How do I get to Khao Lak ?
Khao Lak is an area, comprising several townships and communities with looming hills and mountains on the inland side and about 25km of beautiful beaches on the Andaman Sea side of Highway 4, which runs right through it. It is about 65km or just over an hour from Phuket International Airport , which is the main entry point. It is in the centre of and surrounded by National Parks so is afforded protection from much of the over commercialism that sadly typifies other parts of Thailand .
Many visitors also come from Krabi or the surrounding area and islands to the south by road a journey of 2 – 3 hours or from Ranong to the north or Surat Thani from the north east, the best way to come from Koh Samui or Koh Phang Ngan by road. This is about 3 – 3 1/2 hours.
Some visitors also come south to Khao Lak by road from Bangkok by car or bus, a journey of more than 8 hours.
Visitors arriving from Phuket Airport are transferred to their accommodation either by their resort’s own transfer service or by taxi. Public taxis at a set rate can be organised on arrival at the airport. Just look around when exiting the Arrivals Hall and go to the kiosk where you book and pay for your taxi. Typical cost is 1700 baht for 2 person. There are private taxi firms in Khao Lak offering various competitive rates
